ONE MILLION BRITS MOVING ABROAD PROMPTS LAUNCH OF THE EMIGRATION SHOW AT A PLACE IN THE SUN LIVE, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE FOREIGN & COMMONWEALTH OFFICE'S 'KNOW BEFORE YOU GO' CAMPAIGN

Research released by the Institute of Public Policy Research reveals that more than 198,000 British nationals left the country last year - and that number is set to rise by well over a million people come 2012. Encouraged by a strong economy at home, but the lure of a better quality of life abroad, Brits are increasingly heading overseas to realise their dreams.

To ensure those dreams are not dashed, however, Channel 4's award-winning overseas property exhibition - A Place in the Sun Live - is to newly include for 2007 The Emigration Show, in partnership with the Foreign & Commonwealth Office's 'Know Before You Go' campaign.

Providing those considering moving abroad with essential information and advice before leaving home, this new 'show within a show' is a welcome and exciting addition to what is already the world's largest overseas property and lifestyle exhibition.

Steve Jewitt-Fleet of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office says:

“Going to live abroad is a major decision and one that has many benefits, but people should obtain a wide range of information and advice ahead of time. Many Britons find life abroad difficult because they simply haven't done their homework before they leave the country. Consequently there is a need to ensure those considering such a move have access to the very best expert advice.”

The Emigration Show at A Place in the Sun Live will deliver just that, featuring around 50 exhibitors covering visas, recruitment, finance, removals, relocation, taxation, education and more. Popular English-speaking destinations will be well represented including America, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa, alongside representatives of Europe and beyond. A dedicated seminar theatre will feature hourly sessions from experts on all aspects of emigration and will be free to attend on a first come, first served basis.

A Place in the Sun Live is the UK's biggest and best-attended overseas property exhibition and is the biggest show of its kind in the world. Based on the hit Channel 4 television programme of the same name, it helps people to find their dream property overseas. While for some that means a great investment or idyllic holiday home, for others it's a permanent move abroad.

Ken Pritchard, Group Exhibitions Manager at show organisers Brooklands Group says:

“A Place in the Sun Live already attracts up to 21,000 visitors per show, twice yearly, of which some 30% have told us they are interested in making a permanent move abroad. These visitors want to get as much information as they can and to meet experts who can advise them on every aspect of emigrating. The Emigration Show at A Place in the Sun Live, in association with our partners at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, will meet the demands of this audience.”

The Emigration Show will debut at ExCeL London from 30th March-1st April 2007 and then follow up at the NEC Birmingham from 28th-30th September 2007. For further information visit www.aplaceinthesunlive.com.

All visitors to The Emigration Show will have full and free access to A Place in the Sun Live, and vice versa.
